10 years of Youwell: from INTROMAT to the health service of the future

The journey began in 2015. We joined forces with researchers, clinicians and patients in the INTROMAT project, with a shared vision: to improve mental health with technology and build a bridge between research and clinical practice. The result was six innovative digital interventions, and the start of what is now Youwell.

The goal back then is still our compass: to make mental health care more accessible, effective and human.

A panel debate on the health service of the future

In November 2025, Youwell marked its 10-year anniversary. At the event we held a panel debate about the health service of the future: what does it take to create a health service that is sustainable, human and digital at the same time? We gathered three voices from research, user perspective and technology: Bettina Husebø, professor at the University of Bergen (UiB) and head of SEFAS - Centre for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine, Jonny Klemetsen, founder of Sonat and Youwell, and a service designer from Youwell.

Three insights stood out.

1. Wholeness and safety must be the foundation

Patients with complex needs need services that fit together and detect changes early. Technology must support exactly this, and make digital treatment easier for both patients and health professionals.

2. Trust is built through openness and involvement

As technology takes up more space, users must understand how data is used and feel safe with the solutions. Trust is built when services are developed with patients, not just for them.

3. Innovation happens when expertise and technology meet

Research, clinical experience and digital tools create the most value when they are closely connected. This is how content and patient pathways are developed that work in practice and scale across the health service.
